This caterpillar was found in Grand Isle State Park at a lean-to site by a young camper. Ashley Brisson, the Park Ranger, proceeded to identify the caterpillar and discovered that it was that of an Imperial Moth, a very rare species that has never before been sighted in Grand Isle county. The Fish and Wildlife Service asked that we submit a rare species report! Exciting stuff.
