Getting Back to Nature in British Columbia

A day trip to Whistler leaves me stunned. I never knew such mountains existed. I’m not talking about Whistler, I’m talking about islands of wilderness to the left of the mainland! Wilderness, not “park” should be the technical term for the long stretch of protected forest which begins immediately outside of Vancouver. I had never peered into a forest before with such limited visibility from the thickness of the pine stands. What I could not see, I could not hear, drowned out by streams and rivers gurgling. What I could not see or hear, I could not smell. The wind scattered the sweetest air my lungs ever tasted mixed with the pine smell of Christmas.
